Young Adult Guidelines

Word count: 35,000-60,000

We're looking for novels for teenagers between the ages of 13-18. We will consider contemporary, high concept fantasy, historical, and paranormal. NO SCIENCE FICTION. There does not necessarily need to be a romance involved, but we would love to see some interracial romances.

We are especially interested in stories that include a main character with a physical, emotional, or cognitive disability. In addition, we are looking for stories that address social issues teens face today as well as stories of Christian young adults facing the challenges of living in a secular world. Also, we would love to see stories of young adults in earlier centuries as well as unique takes on fairy tales like Beauty and the Beast and Cinderella.

If you've written a story about a teen excelling despite a difficult background, a teen that chooses to do the right thing in spite of overwhelming odds, or a teen who is unstoppable despite a disability, we would love to see it as well.

We will not consider stories that contain graphic violence, the use of drugs or alcohol, sexual situations, or profanity.

To give you a hint on the type of stories we're looking for, check out movies like The Princess Diaries, Daughters of the Dust, The Fault in Our Stars, Five Feet Apart, Wonder, Loving, The Chronicles of Narnia, Save the Last Dance, The Book Thief, and Vampire Academy.
